Pam Pickens has always been interested in herbs and their medicinal attributes.

Her interests began back in the ‘80s on the Qualla Boundary in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. She spent time getting educated about the local plants and their medicinal uses through her friendship with two Cherokee herbalists, Davis Welch and Walker Calhoun.

When Pam and her husband, Jonathan Pickens opened the Inscription Rock in 2004 they began selling botanicals and bulk teas. She said that “through the years we have tinctured and used plants and roots for health reasons.
